Water consumption of industrial washing machines: a key factor for the efficiency of your laundry

Why is water management the key to your performance? In a sector as demanding as industrial laundry, every liter of water counts.

At a time when environmental and economic challenges intersect, optimizing water consumption has become a strategic lever of performance for laundry operators. And with good reason: controlled resource management can significantly impact operating costs, profitability, and the company’s image.

That’s why water becomes a major but optimizable consumption item.

What is a water recovery tank and how does it work?

The latest generation of industrial washing machines have already significantly reduced their water needs thanks to intelligent features and integrated weighing systems with load sensors. However, laundries still remain heavy consumers depending on the cycles performed and the textiles processed. In addition, the water discharged directly after use is still partially clean or warm, which represents a waste that is both ecological and economic.

To address these losses, more and more laundries are equipping themselves with water recovery tanks. Their principle is simple: recover rinse water (the cleanest in the cycle), store it temporarily, and then reinject it into a subsequent wash cycle.

Water recovery tanks are generally installed next to industrial washers and are automatically managed by the machine’s own control system, which allows management of temperature and reuse of water according to the needs of each cycle.

AQUABAC XL: DANUBE’s efficient solution for large installations

With this in mind, Danube offers AQUABAC XL water recovery tanks, an ideal solution to optimize your laundry’s water consumption, with ease.

Designed to store up to 1,000 liters of water per tank, they allow for significant water savings and are perfect for industrial laundries with large-capacity machines. They can be connected to one or several industrial front-loading washers, from 35 to 120 kg, or barrier washers, from 27 to 100 kg, controlled by the Easy Touch 2 microprocessor.

Thanks to the Easy Touch 2 control, you can easily activate the tanks, configure the filling and draining of the water reservoirs, create your own programs, and optimize the process by adapting it specifically to your needs.

What savings does AQUABAC XL make possible?

AQUABAC XL water recovery tanks enable significant savings at different levels:

  • Between 40 and 70% water savings* by reusing water in the different washing and rinsing phases.
  • Up to 40% energy savings*, by reducing signals from dosing pumps and other conventional systems from the washer, which are a source of energy consumption.
  • Detergent savings: by optimizing water use, AQUABAC XL water recovery tanks reduce the need for products to treat it, by reinjecting the cleanest stored water.
  • Time savings by precisely adjusting washing processes to achieve efficiency and profitability.

*The indicated percentages depend on the type of program, linen, and processes.

Flexible configuration according to your needs

One, two, or three AQUABAC XL water recovery tanks can be combined with different washing machines equipped with Easy Touch 2.

One or several washing machines can be connected to the tanks:

  • Up to 8 machines of 35/45 kg
  • Up to 4 machines of 60/80 kg
  • Up to 3 machines of 100/120 kg

This flexibility allows perfect adaptation to different laundry sizes and different types of needs.

Simple installation and easy maintenance

AQUABAC XL water recovery tanks have been designed to facilitate their installation and maintenance because, in a laundry, maintaining impeccable hygiene is essential.

The tanks can be placed next to the machines, at a maximum distance of 20 meters from the washers, or above the machines, on a platform specifically adapted to this situation. Two water level sensors in each tank indicate the minimum and maximum levels.

Maintenance is carried out at the filter level of the tank pump and washer, and programs can be created from the washer for tank cleaning.

Integrated management with Danube machines

AQUABAC XL tanks they are automatically managed by the Easy Touch 2 control of the Danube washers to which they are connected. From the control screen, you can directly:

  • Choose the water source by selecting the hot water or cold water supply and tanks 1, 2, or 3.
  • Choose the water destination by selecting water inlet or outlet for drum filling or draining.
  • Create programs for tank self-cleaning.

Durability and profitability in a single system

The advantages of such a system are multiple:

  • Reduction of water consumption
  • Less energy needed to heat the water as it is already warm
  • Less wastewater discharged
  • Reduction of operating costs
  • Improved environmental footprint

In a context where every resource counts, controlling your laundry’s water consumption is an obvious choice. Adopting a water recovery solution is a step towards a more sustainable, more economical, and more competitive laundry.
